Lot Audit — Sample Lot — Oct 7, 2026

Snapshot: 41 units online. $612,400 total asking. Top 3 units hold 21% of the dollars. 16.8 photos per unit on average. 38 words per description on average. Template dealer site. Mix: 18 trucks and SUVs, 23 cars, $4,900 to $52,900.

Merchandising Gap Score 58/100 · Yellow

Findings

  1. $187,200 in pickups sits behind 5 to 7 photos each. Five trucks, $27,500 to $52,900, show 5 to 7 photos; together they are 31% of the dollars on the lot. Fix: 20 photos minimum on every unit over $25,000, bed and underbody included, by Friday.
  2. $154,200 of trucks carry a shopper question the copy does not answer. The F-250 diesel (DEF and emissions age), the Ram 1500 (Hemi lifters), the F-150 (10-speed shift quality) and the Silverado (AFM lifters) say nothing about service history in the first sentence. Fix: lead each description with the answer or the service record, or reflect it in the price.
  3. 3 units list no VIN. Stock 4451, 4417 and 4293 ($99,700 together) show no VIN and no history-report link, so they cannot syndicate to the major marketplaces as they stand. Fix: add the VIN and a history link to each listing today.
  4. Two phone numbers across the site. The header shows one number; the footer and About page show another. Fix: one number everywhere, and out of the description bodies.

Holding cost

41 units × $35 per day = $1,435 per day. Three-day turn improvement: 41 × $35 × 3 = $4,305 per inventory turn, roughly monthly on a lot turning in 30 to 45 days. Swap in your own daily rate and the arithmetic updates.

Sample rewrite, stock 4451

The question on every 6.7 diesel comes first: [DEF system and emissions service history — needs: service records], and the printout is in the file. 2022 F-250 Lariat Crew Cab 4x4, 41,200 miles, 6.7L Power Stroke, [one owner per history report — needs: history link]. Lariat Ultimate package with heated and ventilated leather, Sync 4 with the 12-inch screen, FX4 off-road package and fifth-wheel prep. [Tires X/32, brakes X%]. 20 photos including bed, underbody and DEF fill. $52,900. Sample Motors, Sample City, WI.

What the live service does: a daily aging clock on every unit, a description for every new unit, and a Lot Command Board every Monday.

Built from public listing data on Oct 7, 2026. Recommendations only; the dealer verifies and approves all pricing and advertising copy. Days-listed figures marked inferred are estimates.

Sample lot. Synthetic data. Your audit uses your units.

Three steps. You do one of them.

1

Paste your URL. We read every unit on your site: price, miles, photo count, description, VIN, specs.

2

Read the audit. One page on your phone: a score, the biggest findings ranked by dollars, the flagged units, your holding cost, and one rewrite you can use today.

3

Decide. You approve every price and every word. Want it running every day? That is Lot Signal Weekly.

Twelve checks on every unit and on the site.

1

Dollar concentration. How much of your money sits in your top three units, and how well those three are merchandised.

2

VINs. Missing or invalid VINs and missing history-report links.

3

Make, model, trim. Misspellings and blank trims that break search.

4

Mileage. Missing miles, and high miles with nothing in the copy to answer them.

5

Photos. Under 8 is a red flag. 20 or more is the target.

6

Descriptions. Under 25 words, boilerplate over half the text, ALL CAPS, phone numbers in the body.

7

Spec gaps. Blank color, engine, drivetrain or transmission; wrong condition or class tags.

8

Miles vs. price. High-mile units without a one-owner or service-history line up front.

9

Buyer objections. The question shoppers ask about that engine or transmission, and whether your copy answers it.

10

Contact leaks. Extra phone numbers, broken email links, social buttons to nowhere, template copy.

11

Aging. Which units look old, read from listing IDs and photo batches. Always marked inferred.

12

Syndication risk. Units that cannot list on the major marketplaces as they stand.

Every finding traces to your own listing or a VIN decode. Nothing is invented. A fact we need and do not have shows as [needs: X].

Founding pricing ends at ten dealers.

Built and run by a working used-car manager.

Used Lot Signal is one used-car manager and an AI system, not an agency. The system reads your lot; the manager reads the audit before it goes out. Your audit goes to you and nobody else. No dealer's name ever appears in another dealer's audit, and no dealer is compared to another by name.

Questions dealers ask.

Do I have to send you anything?

No. Your website URL is enough. If your site cannot be read, we audit what is public and tell you so.

Will you change my listings?

No. Every finding is a recommendation. You approve all pricing and copy.

Is this a market-value report?

No. It is a merchandising audit: how your units present online. We never state a value without a source you can open.

What is holding cost?

What a unit costs you per day on the lot: floorplan, insurance, lot space, depreciation. We use $35 a day unless you give us your number, and the arithmetic is shown so you can swap it.

Is it automated?

The audit is built by an AI system and read by a manager before you see it.

Is my information shared?

No. Your URL, email and audit stay with Used Lot Signal.

Paste your URL. Read the audit on your phone.
